Professor John Simmons is Professor Emeritus in Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. His early professional career was in design and manufacturing management for major UK engineering companies in Stoke on Trent and Newcastle upon Tyne. He joined Durham University in the 1984 before moving to Heriot-Watt University in 1992. His principal research interests over the years have been in Manufacturing Management and Technology.
